FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will travel to Jersey City, N.J., to face the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Wednesday at 3pm. The Stags will be looking for their 300th win in their varsity history on Wednesday, currently holding a 299-214-69 overall mark.
This year's Stags team is coming off their 10th victory of the season, marking the 16th time in program history they have reached double digits in wins. Another victory would also tie the most in a single season under Head Coach
David Barrett who posted an 11-6-3 mark in 2019.
Fairfield opened their road trip in dominating fashion as they out-shot Rider 27-2 and 12-0 with shots on target. The Stags managed the game-winner in the 30th minute on a one-timer by
Reagan Klarmann who converted the cross from
Elle Scott. The junior ran down a through ball from
Sydney Corbett, who was also credited with an assist, her first collegiate points.
Scott has been the main distributor for the Stags in the last few matches, totaling five assists in her last three outings. The junior ranks second in the conference with her six helpers, a number that ranks her 29th in the country.
The Stags also received weekly honors from the conference office as freshman
Maddy Theriault was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. Her team-leading five goals ranks her second in the MAAC.
Saint Peter's brings a 2-4 conference record into the match, with wins over Iona and Marist. Nine different players have recorded a point for the Peacocks while six have registered a goal. The Peacocks have split time among their two goalkeepers with Olivia Mackethan leading the team with 47 saves.
The Stags will complete their three-game road trip when they make the trek to Western New York for a matchup against Canisius on Saturday at 1pm.
