LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Lou Lopez-Senechal dropped a game-high 27 points as the Fairfield University Women's Basketball team improved to 4-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with a 62-44 victory at Rider. Lopez-Senechal was one of three Stags in double figures, joined by 11 points by
Callie Cavanaugh and 10 from
Andrea Hernangomez.

Joe Frager said. "Lou had a great game and we did a better job in the second half in going inside. Road wins are very important."
Eighteen of Lopez-Senechal's 27 points came in the first half helping the Stags to a 25-23 halftime lead. The senior scored seven of the team's 10 points in the first quarter and 18 of the Stags' 25 in the half.
Rider would net two of the first three field goals in the second half to regain a one-point lead, but Fairfield would answer with a game deciding 12-0 spurt in the next four minutes.
Sydney Lowery started the rally with a traditional 3-point play and was followed by field goals from three other Fairfield starters. Cavanaugh's lay-up capped the 12-0 run to put the Fairfield lead at 39-28. In total, the Stags netted 20 points in the third quarter and would enter the final quarter with an 11-point advantage.
The Stags would lead by double digits the rest of the way adding 17 more in the final quarter.
Fairfield was economical in their offensive production, registering 14 assists and just three turnovers. Fairfield entered the contest leading the MAAC in both fewest turnovers and assist-to-turnover ratio. The Stags averaged just 11.9 turnovers per game, the eighth lowest in the nation.
Tonight, the Stags scored 26 points off Rider turnovers while the Broncs notched just four off Fairfield miscues.
Lopez-Senechal tallied 20 or more points for the third-straight game and the sixth time of the season, the Stags now hold a 5-1 record in those contests.
Cavanaugh was the team leader on the boards with eight boards. She filled out the stat sheet with 11 points, two blocks, and three steals.
The Stags will now embark on their Western New York swing, starting with a road contest at Niagara on Thursday at 2pm.
