WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will continue their three-game road trip when they travel to West Long Branch, N.J., to face the Monmouth Hawks on Monday night. This contest is a makeup date for a contest that was originally scheduled on New Year's Day.

The Stags are coming off their first MAAC loss of the season as they fell 69-56 to Siena on the road. The Stags allowed the Saints to shoot 50 percent from 3-point range, the highest 3-point shooting percentage against the Stags this year.

The senior leadership of the Stags showed in the comeback effort as Fairfield rallied from double digit deficits twice. The Stags fell behind by 13 points in the first quarter and were able to cut the score to one point in the second. Fairfield also faced a 16 point deficit in the third quarter which they were able to cut to three in the fourth.

Lou Lopez-Senechal led the Stags with 23 points, the seventh-straight game she has reached 20 points.
Janelle Brown had an impressive game with career-highs in: points (14), rebounds (six), and steals (five).

The loss snapped Fairfield's seven-game winning streak as they started MAAC play 7-0 for just the second time in program history. It was the best start for the Stags in conference play since the 2000-01 squad went 8-0. That team would earn the first MAAC At-Large bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Monmouth enters play in second place in the MAAC with a 4-1 league mark. Stella Clark leads the team in nearly every offensive category: points (12.1), rebounds (6.3), 3-point percentage (.356), and steals (27).

The Stags will conclude their three-game road trip when they head to Marist on Thursday at 7pm.
