FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will close out the non-conference portion of their 2021 schedule when they host the Dartmouth Big Green on Sunday afternoon at 2pm. The Stags are riding a four-match unbeaten streak while Dartmouth enters play with an unbeaten 4-0-1 record.
The Stags needed another late goal to extend their unbeaten streak with a 1-1 draw against Hartford. Fairfield would find that tying tally with just 10 minutes left in the game. After a yellow card assessed to Hartford set up a free kick from 30 yards out,
Gabby Diodati would once again set up the decisive play. Diodati looped the free kick all the way to the top corner of the net and over the head of the Hawks' goalkeeper for her fifth goal of the season.
Diodati's five goals is a team-high and one shy from matching the MAAC lead.
The Stags would put 12 shots on goal in the draw, but Diodati's looper was the only one to touch the back of the net. Hartford's Maia Perez tallied 11 saves, matching her career-high. Diodati,
Reagan Klarmann, and
Elle Scott all tied for a game-high three shots on goal.
Dartmouth enters play with a 4-0-1 overall record with their only draw coming to No. 8 Georgetown on the road. Allie Winstanley leads the Ivy league with 10 points on three goals and four assists.
The Stags will now turn their attention to the MAAC portion of the schedule that starts with a match at Marist on Saturday at 1pm.
