Men's Soccer Lists 16 Games On 2021 Schedule

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's soccer team will play a 16-game schedule that will feature eight home games at Lessing Field in 2021. The Stags will gather for six non-conference matches followed by 10 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) dates to comprise the fall schedule. All Fairfield men's soccer home games will start at 7 p.m.

Coach Rees will send his team to the pitch for the season opener on August 26 when the squad travels to the University at Albany for a 7 p.m. match. The home slate starts with a pair of dates during the first week of September when Yale University comes to Lessing Field on September 3 followed by Army West Point on September 7.

September continues with three more road dates wrapped around a September 21 match with the University of Hartford heading to Lessing Field. The team will also face Stony Brook University on September 11 and Princeton University on September 15 away from campus before commencing Metro Atlantic Athletic play on September 29 at Saint Peter's University.

October features four home and four road contests with Niagara University leading off the month (October 2) on the Fairfield campus. The Stags travel south for a match up against Monmouth University on October 6 before heading west for its annual date with Siena College on October 9.

Fairfield plays three of its next four games at Lessing Field, a stretch which includes Manhattan College on October 13, Iona College on October 16, and Quinnipiac University on October 30. The final 11 days of the month also feature road outings with Rider University on October 20 and Canisius College on October 30.

The regular-season finale sends Marist College to Connecticut for a November 3 match, just four days before the start of the MAAC Tournament. The conference championship will be decided over one week's time beginning with the quarterfinals on November 7 with the semifinals slated for November 11 and the championship scheduled for November 14.

"It's great to have a full compliment of games again," Head Coach Carl Rees said. "The out of conference portion of our schedule is full of testing match ups. I'm delighted to have Princeton back as well as our local rivals including Yale which will be another close encounter. All the games will help us prepare for the business end of the season when we compete for a MAAC title."

The Fairfield University men's soccer team, under the guidance of Coach Rees, finished the 2020-21 spring campaign with a 4-3-1 overall record which included a MAAC Tournament quarterfinal win at Saint Peter's.

Currently, Fairfield University plans to permit attendance by the public to all home athletics contests throughout the 2021-22 academic year. The University will continue to abide by CDC, campus, and local guidelines.
