FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse returns to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium for a Saturday, April 17 meeting with the #13/14 Drexel Dragons. Opening faceoff in the CAA clash is slated for 1 p.m. with Travis Eldridge and Davey Emala calling the action live on the Lax Sports Network.
The Stags enter Saturday's game seeking their first CAA win of the campaign. Most recently, Fairfield was on the short side of a 12-11 nail-biter last Saturday at Towson. The Stags were led by a three-goal, two-assist effort for
Dylan Beckwith, running his total to 100 assists throughout his prolific career. Beckwith is the third Stag to reach the 100-assist mark. His hat trick last Saturday also boosted his career total to 99 goals. He is one point shy of becoming only the fourth Stag to hit the 200-point mark, and his next marker will make him the third player in Fairfield history to top the century mark in both goals and assists.
The nationally-ranked Dragons are 5-2 on the season and 3-2 in the CAA. Drexel is riding a four-game winning streak including back-to-back victories over ranked conference opponents UMass and Delaware. Sean Donnelly leads the attack with 30 points (18g, 12a) with Aidan Coll netting team-best 20 goals. Jimmeh Koita is one win above 50 percent at the faceoff X at 71-of-140 (.507), and Ross Blumenthal has logged all but 19 minutes in the Drexel cage en route to a 12.26 goals against average and .450 save percentage.
Fairfield wraps up the home portion of the 2021 season with a noon visit from UMass. The Minutemen, who are currently unranked but receiving votes in both major national polls, are 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the CAA with a home meeting with Towson on tap for this weekend.
Next Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the Lax Sports Network with J.J. Duke on the call.
