FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University women's rowing team captured weekly honors from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) after their performances at the Sacred Heart Invitational. The Stags' varsity 8 and second varsity 8 both received accolades for placing first in their individual races over the weekend.
The Fairfield varsity 8 won its event at the Sacred Heart Invitational with a time of 6:44.59, edging Sacred Heart and Iona. The Stags took the lead at the midway point and with a steady performance stayed ahead for the remainder of the run. The Stags entry included

The second varsity 8 edged Sacred Heart by a second as the Stags posted a time of 6:59.34. The race featured several lead changes and neither of the top two had more than a second lead throughout the event with Fairfield holding on at the finish line. The boat included

The team will return to the water on April 17 when it competes in a quad meet with Iona College, Manhattan College, and Sacred Heart University.
