Stags Welcome Iona on Thursday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fresh off their biggest win of the season, the Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will look to continue their hot streak when they welcome the Iona Gaels to Webster Bank Arena on Thursday night for a 7pm tip. The Stags are coming off an impressive road victory at MAAC power Quinnipiac and will now look to move to 3-0 in the MAAC for the third-straight season.

Fairfield brought all the momentum into the Christmas holiday break after defeating Quinnipiac 66-62 on the road. The victory marked the first road win in the series for the Stags since 2014.

Three Stags finished in double figures including a game-high 26 points by Lou Lopez-Senechal. The senior netted 11 of those points in the fourth quarter to help the Stags to the win. Graduate transfer Sydney Lowery also led the Stags with her first career double-double as she recorded 13 points and a personal best 10 rebounds.

The Stags completed the first weekend of conference play in a tie for first place in the MAAC with a 2-0 record. Lopez-Senechal is the leading scorer of the MAAC with 19.0 points per game and also leads the conference in field goals (74) and is third in 3-point percentage (.389).

Iona enters the game with a 0-2 mark in the MAAC after setbacks to Monmouth and Marist. Juana Camilion is the team's leading scorer with 12.6 points per game and 4.1 assists.

As previously announced, the Stags' road game at Monmouth on New Year's Day has been postponed due to CoVid-19 protocols. Fairfield will next take the court at home on Thursday Jan. 6 at 7pm at home against Saint Peter's.
