FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will take the court for the second time in the last three games and compete against another MAAC power when they face the Quinnipiac Bobcats on the road on Monday evening at 6pm. The Stags are coming off a win in their conference opener against Marist and will be looking for their third-straight 2-0 start in the MAAC.

The Stags earned their first conference win after getting off to a scorching start against Marist, tallying 37 first half points and holding on against a Red Foxes rally for a five point win.

Fairfield earned their biggest lead of the game after back-to-back 3-pointers by
Sam Lewis and
Janelle Brown extended the advantage to 15. The two big buckets capped a second quarter where the Stags shot 67 percent, going 10-for-15 from the field.

The Stags struggled in the third quarter with just one field goal but made key buckets down the stretch to keep the lead.
Lou Lopez-Senechal had the latest field goal for the Stags with a jumper with 94 seconds left to extend the lead to two possessions.

Lopez-Senechal led three Stags in double figures with 18 points as she was joined by
Andrea Hernangomez's 12 points and
Rachel Hakes' 10. Hernangomez would also record her second double-double of the season as she combined her 12 points with a game-high 17 rebounds. For the season, Hernangomez ranks fourth in the MAAC with 9.5 rebounds.

Quinnipiac is led by the reigning MAAC Player of the Year Mackenzie DeWees as she holds a 13.2 scoring average. Mikala Morris ranks right behind her with 12.3 points per game and a team-high 9.6 rebounds.

The Stags will be back in action next Thursday when they play in their final game of the 2021 calendar year and host Iona on Dec. 30 at 7pm.
