FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Tennis played its first dual match of the fall on Saturday afternoon, taking a 5-2 decision from Sacred Heart on the Walsh Athletic Center Courts. The Stags swept the doubles point and won four singles matches against their crosstown foes.

"SHU came out and played us tough We were shorthanded, so it was nice to see everyone pitch in and pick up the win," said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "Overall, I'm pleased with where we are this fall and looking forward to closing out the fall strong at Yale in a couple of weeks."

In doubles action, the Stags claimed the point courtesy of wins for
Sam Hodges and
Charlie Morkel in the top spot,
Jonathan Olive-Blanco and
Keean Shah in the second position, and
Will O'Brien and
Andrew Immink at number three.

Morkel also played atop the singles lineup and picked up a straight-set victory over the Pioneers' William Wibmer.
Griffin Schlesinger added a convincing win at #4 and
Stefan Mitrovic was victorious at #5. To cap the effort, Immink won a three-set marathon in the #6 slot by scores of 6-7 (4), 6-4 and 1-0 (9).

The fall slate concludes for the Stags at the Yale Invitational beginning Nov. 5 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven.
