Stags Close Out Road Swing at Iona

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will close out their quick two game road trip when they travel to New Rochelle, N.Y., to face the Iona Gaels on Saturday at noon. The Stags, who are coming off two-straight wins, enter the match third in the MAAC standings with 13 points on a 4-2-1 record.

The Stags took a season-high 29 shots in their last match against Manhattan but it was only the final one that counted as Elle Scott provided the game-winner in the 88th minute. Hanley Courter sent a cross towards the middle of the box where a Manhattan defender attempted to clear with her right foot. Scott used her speed to create the play of the game as she raced towards the defender and stole the attempted clear to easily convert her point blank shot at goal.

The score was Scott's seventh of the season, moving her to third in the MAAC and the tops on the team. For the season, the Stags have had 11 different players tally a goal and 15 players record a point.

The Stags will face an Iona team that is coming off two-straight victories against Wagner and Saint Peter's. The Gaels offense is also spread around as five different players have scored at least three goals. Emma Havrilla has started 12 matches in goal with a 1.83 goals against average and a .667 save percentage.

Fairfield will return to Lessing Field for the final time during the regular season when they host Saint Peter's on Wednesday night at 7pm.
