FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will open up a two game road swing when they travel to face the Manhattan Jaspers on Wednesday at 3pm. The Stags enter the match in a fourth place tie in the MAAC standings with 10 points.
Â
The Senior Class of 2022 were a vital piece in how the Stags gained those three points in a 3-0 win over Canisius. On their Senior Day, the seniors scored all three goals for the Stags.
Lexi Lehan started the scoring early in the first half as she slid into the box and pushed the ball into the back of the net. The goal was set up by a diving save on a shot by
Maddie Kiely.
Â
It took the Stags nearly 76 minutes to add to their lead but they would find breathing room with two goals in the final 10 minutes.
Stephanie Tsangaris found the second goal for the Stags on a pass from
Elle Scott.
Â
The biggest reaction from the Stags' sidelines, however, came after
Jenn Bonifazio tallied her first career goal in her third collegiate appearance.
Brooke Hernon sent a corner kick that hit off the hands of the goalkeeper and found the head of Bonifazio.
Â
The Jasper enter play with a 6-4 record and a 2-3 mark in the MAAC. Sydney Harwood is the team leader in points with 12, which includes five goals.
