ORLANDO, FL — Playing at the USTA National Campus is just so cool. You almost feel like you're a part of the pro tennis scene. There is, in fact, a separate structure here where all the best women, like Alison Riske, Jennifer Brady and Madison Keys, play.
Yesterday the Stags did not stake their claim in American college tennis. They were defeated by Northern Kentucky 6-1.
The doubles point was tantalizingly close. After Fairfield's No. 3 team of
Emily Lombardi and
Laina Campos won its match 7-5, both the Stags' No. 2 and No. 3 fell in tiebreakers.
The Fairfield player to put the point on the board was sophomore
Sophia Prinos who won at No. 5 Singles.
Today Fairfield takes on Farleigh Dickinson at 11:30 am in Orlando.
