FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Swimming and Diving will be well represented in Cleveland, Ohio this weekend at the 2020 CSCAA National Invitational. Thirteen Stags will compete in individual events to go along with a total of seven relays.
For the men's team,
Erik Hren will be competing in four freestyle events (200y, 500y, 1000y, 1650y). Hren was a three-time individual medalist at the MAAC Championships for the Stags, earning a silver in the 500y freestyle and bronze medals in the 200y and 1650y freestyle.
Evan Fair is also set to swim in four events: the 50y freestyle as well as the 100y, 200y and 400y IMs. Fair made history at the MAAC Championships as the first Stag to win an individual gold medal on the men's side, topping the podium in the 400y IM. He also won a bronze medal in the 200y IM up in Buffalo last month.
Will Robinson will represent the Stags in the 50y, 100y and 200y backstroke, and
Chris Ford is also slated for three events – the 200y breaststroke as well as the 1000y and 1650y freestyle.
Rounding out the men's individual competitors will be
Patrick Boyle (1000y freestyle, 1650y freestyle),
Jordan Rahurahu (50y butterfly, 200y butterfly) and
Austin Twiss (50y backstroke). The Stags will also field quartets to compete in the 200y freestyle, 200y medley and 800y freestyle relays.
The three-time MAAC Champion women's team will be led by the reigning MAAC Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet,
Maria Nitti, in the 50y, 100y and 200y freestyle events. Nitti won all three of those events at the MAAC Championship to guide the Stags to a team victory.
Morgan Hansen, who was the Most Outstanding Swimmer in the Stags' 2019 MAAC Championship win, will compete in the 50y, 100y and 200y butterfly this week in Cleveland. Hansen won the 100y and 200y butterfly in Buffalo last month and also garnered a silver medal in the 200y IM.
Alexandra Miko-Rydzaj will hit the pool twice this week, competing in the 50y butterfly and 50y backstroke, with
Victoria Krivitsky set for the 50y breaststroke and
Sara Ostensen preparing for the 200y butterfly.
The Stags will also compete in the 200y medley, 400y medlay, 400y freestyle and 800y freestyle relays.
Action from Cleveland State University begins on Thursday March 12 and will continue through Saturday, March 14.
