TRUMBULL, Conn. — It's never easy playing the perennial Missouri Valley Conference contenders Stony Brook. And tonight was no different for Fairfield University Women's Tennis. Despite some hotly contested singles matches and one win, Fairfield fell to the visiting Seawolves, 6-1, at the Tennis Club of Trumbull.
All three doubles matches were eerily similar. In each, the Stags suffered early breaks of serves before they were able to steady themselves and get on the board. But the early losses of games proved too much as Stony Brook claimed the doubles point.
The singles side of the competition proved more equitable. At No. 5, sophomore
Sophia Prinos pulled away from her opponent early on and went on to win 6-3, 6-2.
Aina March at No. 3 and
Laina Campos at No. 6 also acquitted themselves well.
Fairfield takes on Bryant tomorrow at the Tennis Club of Trumbull at 5 p.m.
