Stags Travel to League Leading Marist on Monday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will begin their final five-game stretch of the regular season when they travel to league-leading Marist on Monday at 7pm. The Stags are coming off a crucial victory over Quinnipiac their last time out and will look to continue that momentum as they continue a four game in seven day stretch.

The Stags held on to their third place standing in the MAAC with that crucial victory over Quinnipiac. The Stags led the entire game and out-scored the Bobcats in three quarters. Fairfield grabbed a double digit lead after Lou Lopez-Senechal connected on a 3-pointer just 14 seconds into the second half. The Bobcats would trim that lead to five but Lopez-Senechal would answer by scoring the next six points to give the Stags a comfortable lead.

Lopez-Senechal finished with 26 points, one shy of a career-high. The sophomore had extra motivation as her family made the long journey from France to see her play for the first time this year. She went 5-for-6 from behind the arc.

Sam Kramer was the orchestrator of the offense as she dished out eight assists while also hitting three 3-pointers. Over her last six games, Kramer is averaging 6.3 assists.

Lopez-Senechal scored her 600th career point in her 26-point outing. She has reached double figures in 34 of the 49 games of her career, including 13 of her last 14 contests.

Marist has not lost a game since their last defeat against the Stags at Alumni Hall, winning seven-straight. It represented Marist's first loss at Alumni Hall since 2001.

The Red Foxes are the top ranked offensive team in the MAAC averaging 74.1 points per game. They also lead the conference in field goal percentage (.483), 3-point field goal percentage (.369), and 3-point field goals per game (7.9).

Rebekah Hand is the team leader at 18.3 points per game. She is third in the MAAC in 3-point shooting percentage at .420 and is second in field goal percentage at .534 behind teammate Alana Gilmer. Fairfield will be looking for their first season sweep of the Red Foxes since 2001.

The Stags will return home when they face the team tied atop the top of the league with Marist when they host the Rider Broncs on Thursday at 7pm.
