#14/14 Georgetown Hands Stags First Loss of 2020

Fairfield returns to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium next Saturday to host Quinnipiac

WASHINGTON, D.C. – #14/14 Georgetown used a 10-goal third quarter to pull away from Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse and take a 25-12 decision on Saturday in Washington, D.C. The Stags were led by three points apiece from Bryce Ford and Travis Ford.

With two goals and one assist today, Bryce Ford has notched three points in each of his first three games as a Stag. Travis Ford also posted two goals and an assist – his first helper of 2020.

Brian Reda added two goals, while Dylan Beckwith and Taylor Strough each recorded one goal and one assist. Beckwith's pair of points extend his streak to 25 consecutive games netting at least one point.

Cole Barnard, Trent Moran, Max Paparozzi and Frankie Labetti each scored one goal. Paparozzi's goal was the first of his career, while Labetti's marker was his second of the year and seventh in his career from the faceoff spot in the lineup. Labetti also went 12-of-30 at the faceoff X with seven ground balls.

Rounding out the offense, Adam Riestis distributed an assist – the second-career point and assist for the defensive midfielder and his first since handing out a helper in the 2017 win over NJIT.

On the opposite end of the field, James Corasaniti matched his career high with 18 saves. The defense in front of him featured two ground balls and one caused turnover from Jake Tymon and a pair of ground balls by Jon Wheat.

Fairfield (2-1) hung tough with the nationally-ranked Hoyas (3-0) throughout the first half, heading into the locker room faced with a manageable 10-7 deficit. However, the two-time reigning Big East Champions came out firing after the intermission, scoring the first six goals out of the locker room to begin to pull away for the win.

Dylan Watson scored seven goals to pace the potent Georgetown attack, while Jake Carraway amassed a hat trick with four assists. Owen McElroy made 14 saves over the first 47 minutes of action in the cage to earn the decision.

The Stags return to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium next Saturday, Feb. 29, to host in-state foe Quinnipiac at 1 p.m. The Bobcats are 0-4 this season with road losses to Rutgers, UMass Lowell, Brown and Vermont.
