Stags Shutout at Brown

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team fell in their final non-conference match of the 2019 season, 5-0 at Brown on Thursday afternoon. The Stags fell behind quickly by giving up two goals in the first half before Brown added another three scores in the second.

Brown (6-0-1) were the aggressors early on, out-shooting the Stags 13-2 in the first half. Eight of those shots were on target, forcing Gena Pike to make a career-high six saves in just 45 minutes of action. Pike recorded three of those saves in the first 13 minutes before Brown's Star White tallied the first of her two first half goals in the 14th minute. White would also strike two minutes later off a deflected cross in the goal area.

The Stags managed two shots in the first half with Brooke Jones and Ally Filipkowski both attempting shots, with Filipkowski's strike being on target but saved by the Brown goalkeeper.

Brown's Brittany Raphino dominated the second half by scoring all three Brown goals to complete a natural hat trick in just 17 minutes.

In total, the Stags were out-shot 20-5, including a 12-2 mark with shots on goal.

Fairfield will now turn their attention to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play when they host Niagara in their conference opener on Saturday at noon.
