Stags Host Bryant on Thursday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will play in their last non-conference home match when they welcome the Bryant Bulldogs to Lessing Field on Thursday for a 7pm kickoff. The Stags are coming off a weekend where they were unbeaten with a 2-2 draw at Penn and a 4-0 victory over LIU.

Nicole Stryjek was the highlight in Fairfield's shutout victory over the Sharks, as the junior recorded the 14th hat trick in Fairfield Women's Soccer history by tallying three of the team's four scores. After two goals in the first half, Stryjek capped her day by drawing a foul in the penalty area and then finishing off the penalty kick to record the hat trick.

The three goals puts her season total to four, tying for the lead in the conference.

Stephanie Tsangaris also entered the scoring column for the Stags against LIU as she converted on an assist from Julia McGuire.

Stryjek's hat trick helped her earn her first career weekly honor from the conference as she was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week. She was not the only Stag to earn a distinction as Gena Pike was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week by posting the shutout against LIU while stopping both shots on net.

Through the first six games of the season, the Stags are tied with Marist for the top spot with 11 goals, netted by seven different goal scorers.

The Bulldogs come to Lessing Field after snapping a three-game losing streak as they defeated Merrimack 3-1. However, all three losses during that span were by a 1-0 count. Remi Manna and Kylie Ratelle share the team lead in goals as they have both netted two apiece. Meghan Dalton has played in all 451 minutes in net with a 1.00 goals against average and a .857 save percentage.

The Stags are 2-3 all-time against Bryant with the Bulldogs taking the last three meetings,

Fairfield will have a little break with their next contest nearly a week away when they wrap up their non-conference slate with a match at Brown on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 4pm.
