Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team allowed a season-high five goals as the Stags fell 5-1 on the road to Yale on Sunday.
Liz Dumas tallied the team's lone goal with a right footed strike in the first half.
The Bulldogs (1-1) scored the first two goals of the game, opening with a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. Yale would net their next goal five minutes later on a Noelle Higginson header.
Dumas cut that deficit in half as she unleashed a long shot from the top of the box, beating the keeper to the right. For Dumas, it was the first goal of her season and the sixth of her career. It also marked the sixth different goal scorer for the Stags (2-2), accounting for their six scores.
Yale would tally two more scores in the second half, once again in a five minute span between the 73-78 minutes.
Fairfield managed six shots in the setback, with two of those on target. Yale fired 20 attempts with 10 on goal, as
Gena Pike picked up five saves.
The Stags will wrap up their season long four game road trip when they travel to Penn on Friday at 7pm.
