HAMDEN, Conn. – Fairfield women's tennis just missed pulling the upset over Quinnipiac as they were edged by a score of 4-3.  Both teams came into the match undefeated in the MAAC.
 
In Doubles play, Aina March and Amanda Nowak took down Proyfon Lohaphaisan and Dominique Vasile 7-5 at #1 Doubles but could not pick up another Doubles win giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. 
 
The Stags went down 3-0 early in Singles play but Amanda Nowak started the comeback at #1 Singles with a win over Dominique Vasile (7-6, 6-3).  Anna Komer then took down Payton Bradley (6-2, 4-6, 7-6) at #4 Singles.  Diana Prinos tied the score 3-3 with a win at #2 Singles over Jennifer Lu (6-4, 4-6, 6-4).  Emily Lombardi fought through her match at #6 Singles but fell in three sets to Courtney Nash (6-3, 5-7, 1-6).
 
"We almost had it today" said Head Coach Jeff Bricker.  "We got a little tight in the doubles point and that cost us. I loved the effort and discipline from the whole team and hopefully they gained confidence for the MAAC tourney next weekend. One more tough match vs Siena before MAACs. Looking forward to Saturday!"
 
Fairfield will take on Siena on Saturday, April 20 at 4 P.M. in New Haven to finish their regular season.
