ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Fairfield women's tennis finished their three-game trip to South Carolina this spring break with a matchup against South Carolina State and ultimately fell by a score of 2-5.
Fairfield dropped the Doubles point but
Aina March and
Amanda Nowak did pick up a win at #1 Doubles defeating Andjela Mihajilovic and Zainab Bendahhou 6-3.
In Singles play,
Amanda Nowak defeated Ikram Rassif (6-0, 6-2) in #2 Singles and
Aina March took down Lasya Patnaik (0-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-1) in #3 Singles.
"We were sluggish today" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "Footwork wasn't quite where it needs to be and unfortunately, we weren't able to overcome it. These types of losses are important for young teams and we will learn from it."
Fairfield will return to action as they host Hofstra on Friday, March 29 at 2 P.M. on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
