Women's Rowing Selected Sixth In 2019 MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll

                FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's rowing team was selected sixth in the 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Stags earned their position by garnering 49 points from the vote of the conference head coaches.

                Marist College was selected as the preseason favorite with 96 points, most of which came off its six first-place votes. Jacksonville University was second on the list with 94 points and received the other four first-place votes in the poll. Canisius rounded out the top three with 76 points.

                The next three teams in the ranking included Drake (69 points) followed by Robert Morris (51 points), and Fairfield. The remainder of the preseason list was rounded out by Manhattan College (43 points), Stetson University (35 points), Sacred Heart University (24 points), and Iona College (13 points).

                The Fairfield University women's rowing team opens the 2019 spring season on March 23 at the Amherst Invitational in Hadley, Mass. The Stags will compete for the MAAC Championship later in the season with the event taking place May 19 on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J.
