BUFFALO, N.Y. – Fairfield Women's Swimming and Diving continued their success today in the MAAC Championships as they held their first-place position above the competition with 279 points overall. Rider sits in second place with 224 points and Marist holds third place with 220 points.
To start the day, the Stags swept the podium in the 500 Yard Freestyle as
Sara Ostensen took home the first-place finish with a final time of 4:54.83 breaking her first-place time from last year which was 4:58.51.
Shannon Feeley placed second clocking in at 4:58.45 and
Sarah Herbold finished in third with a time of 4:59.69.
Kelly Cordes and
Rachel Landry also finished in sixth and seventh place respectively in the event.
Morgan Hansen and
Colleen Young followed with first and second place finished in the 200 Yard Individual Medley. Hansen finished first with a final time of 2:05.51 and Young finished in second clocking in at 2:05.70.
Maria Nitti picked up the win in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a final time of 23.60 and
Samantha D'Alessandro placed seventh.
Fairfield finished the day with a third-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay as D'Alessandro, Nitti, Herbold, and Ostensen finished with a time of 1:36.47.
In the 3 Meter Diving,
Erin Wind placed eleventh (181.50) and
Caitlin Campbell finished in thirteenth (154.70).
The Stags look to build on their lead in Day 3 of the MAAC Championships tomorrow with the finals starting at 6 P.M.
