Seven Home Games Highlight 2020 Schedule for Defending MAAC Champion Stags

Fairfield begins the campaign at home on Saturday, Feb. 8

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Seven games on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium highlight the 2020 schedule for Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse, as announced today by Head Coach Laura Field. The back-to-back MAAC Champion Stags will open the campaign at home on Feb. 8 against Holy Cross.

"Our team has turned the page from a successful 2019 season and is solely focused on 2020," said Field. "The MAAC is a continually growing and improving conference, and we feel that the non-conference portion of the schedule will prepare us for the challenges that await us in league play."

In addition to the opener against the Crusaders, the non-conference schedule will also bring Columbia and Boston University to Rafferty Stadium. The road portion of the ledger sees the Stags visiting UConn, Hofstra, New Hampshire, Denver and Sacred Heart.

The 24-day sprint that is the 2020 MAAC schedule opens with home games against Quinnipiac and Niagara on March 25 and 28. Fairfield will also entertain Marist and Siena – a rematch of 2019 MAAC Championship Game – while visiting league foes Manhattan, Monmouth, Iona and Canisius.

The top six teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the 2020 MAAC Championship, which begins on Saturday, April 25 and concludes with Championship Weekend – hosted by the top seed – on Thursday, April 30 and Saturday, May 2.

Fairfield finished the 2019 season with a record of 15-4, hosting Wagner in the first NCAA postseason game ever contested on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. The Stags went 8-0 in the MAAC and bested Monmouth and Siena in the conference postseason to win their second straight MAAC Championship and the fifth in program history.
