FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will head to South Orange, N.J., for the second game of their season opening three-game road trip as they face the Seton Hall Pirates on Saturday at 11am. The game will be streamed on the Pirate Sports Network.
The Stags will enter the second game of their season after a 77-59 loss to Temple in their first contest.
Lou Lopez-Senechal led all Fairfield scorers with 15 points, 11 coming in the first quarter as she connected on her first four shot attempts of the season. Lopez-Senechal's first quarter scoring effort helped the Stags jump out to a 20-18 lead after the first 10 minutes.
Temple was able to gain the lead, however, in the second quarter and erupted for 29 points in the third to make the difference of the game.
Lopez-Senechal's 15 points led three Stags in double figures, with
Rachel Hakes (13) and
Katie Armstrong (11) following her. Hakes had one of the best games of her collegiate career as she tallied personal bests with 13 points, eight assists, and six free throws made.
Seton Hall was picked to finish third in the Big East Preseason Poll, their highest selection in the seven years under Head Coach Anthony Bozzella. They are led by the Big East Preseason Player of the Year in Shadeen Samuels, who is also one of 50 players on the Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List.
The Stags will finish their three-game road trip to begin the season when they travel to face LIU on Wednesday, Nov., 13 at 7pm.
