FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will play their third-straight match away from home when they travel to Quinnipiac for a Saturday afternoon match starting at noon.
The Stags grabbed a point during their first road match in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) of the 2018 season after drawing Manhattan 1-1 last week.
Alex Madden was the lone Stag to touch net during the draw as she connected on her MAAC leading seventh goal of the season. Madden leads the MAAC in goals and points and is tied for 12th in the nation with 0.88 goals per game.
On their last time on the pitch, the Stags wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a 1-0 setback to Colgate on the road. The only goal that was scored in the match came in the opening minute as Colgate was able to convert a corner kick.
The Stags would out-shoot Colgate 18-16 and put nine of those shots on target.
Holly Habyan led the team in that category with all three of her shot attempts requiring a save from the Colgate goalkeepers.
Aytana Muschajew kept the Stags in the game by picking up six saves in the contest. The rookie ranks fifth in the MAAC in total saves (32) and goals against average (1.13).
As a team, the Stags lead the league in most offensive categories including: scoring offense (2.11), total goals (19), total assists (13), and shots per game (17.1). The 19 goals they scored is already the most the team has tallied in any season since 2015.
Quinnipiac also fought to a draw during their first conference game, earning a point in the 0-0 match against Siena. The Bobcats out-shot the Saints by a narrow 21-18 margin, but 10 of those shots came in the first half.
During the second 45 minute half, Olivia Myszewski saved the game for the Bobcats by picking up six saves in the period, finishing with eight. For the season, Myszewski supports a 1.56 goals against average and a .796 save percentage.
Lauren Triglione and Madison Borowiec are both tied for the team lead with three goals.
The Stags will next open up a three-game homestand starting with a Wednesday night match against Rider at 7pm.
