Field Hockey Takes Down Hofstra For Fourth Straight Win

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Fairfield field hockey improved to 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon to continue one of the best starts of the season the program has ever had as they defeated Hofstra in a shutout by a score of 1-0.

The Stags have tallied four straight wins with three of the four coming on the road.  Over the four-game span, Fairfield's defense has been phenomenal, only allowing two goals while the Stags offense has done their job scoring a total of ten goals.

Fairfield's defense once again dominated the game only allowing one shot in the first half and one shot on goal the entire game which Zoe Rosen was able to save.

Danielle Profita scored the lone goal that would give the Stags the win off of a penalty corner at the end of the first half. Sam Giordano was credited the assist on the play.

"Very proud of the team for their perseverance and grit in today's game" said Head Coach Jackie Kane. "I am thrilled with our progress thus far this season. We have two tough games this weekend that we are focusing on."

Fairfield outshot Hofstra 18-4 and 11-1 on shots on goal.  The Stags also took 9 penalty corners to the Pride's 5.

The Stags will return home to University Field this weekend to take on UMass Lowell on Saturday at 12 PM and will then play again on Sunday against Lehigh at 1 PM.
