FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will travel to Smithfield, R.I., when they meet the Bryant Bulldogs on Thursday at 3pm. This will be the final match of a two-game road trip and will also be the last game before a week-long break for the Stags.
 
Fairfield is coming off their first loss on the road against NJIT as they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Highlanders. Melanie Hingher was the lone Stag to touch the back of the net after she headed in a corner kick from Gabby Diodati. It marked the second-straight match where Diodati tallied an assist and the sophomore leads the squad with two helpers.
 
Fellow sophomore Alex Madden is the leader in goals for the Stags as she tallied all three in the home opening win against Wagner. Madden's hat trick enabled her being named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. It marked the first Stag hat trick on Lessing Field since Meaghan King in 2003 and was also the 15th hat trick in the NCAA this season.
 
Since 2017, Bryant is unbeaten in nine of their last 11 home matches, including a 1-1 mark this season. Senior Cayla D'Amico and freshman Lexi Kraemer both touched net for the Bulldogs in their latest 2-1 win over Rhode Island. Goalkeeper Meghan Dalton supports a 2.00 GAA and a .692 save percentage
 
All-time the Stags are 2-2 against Bryant with their last victory coming in the 2010 season opener.
 
After their week-long break, the Stags will be back in action on Lessing Field on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7pm against Lafayette.
