RICHMOND, Va. – For the second consecutive year, Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse has earned the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Team Academic Excellence Award. The honor, which was established in 2017, recognizes the program with the highest yearly GPA in each CAA-sponsored sport. The Stags posted a team GPA of 3.18 to capture the honor this year after winning the inaugural award with a 3.12 team GPA in 2016-17.
 
"Fairfield University has an outstanding academic reputation, and we expect the student-athletes in our program to contribute to that reputation. I'm proud of our guys for continuing to rise to that challenge," said Head Coach Andy Copelan.
 
In total, 23 Fairfield Men's Lacrosse student-athletes qualified for the University's Dean's List with a GPA of 3.5 or above in at least one semester in 2017-18, including 14 who attained the honor in both semesters. Twenty-nine members of the Stags' 2018 men's lacrosse roster own a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
 
Individually, recent graduate Will Fox '18 was named a USILA Scholar All-American for his efforts in the classroom. Fox and classmate Joe Rodrigues '18 were also named to the NEILA All-Academic Team this past spring.
