WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – A great season for Fairfield men's tennis came to an end today as they fell to Monmouth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship semifinals by a score of 4-0.
The Stags dropped the doubles point as
Allan Magid and
William Townsend Font were defeated in #3 Doubles 6-1 and
Anthony Caputo and
Tyler Shibles fell 6-2 in #2 Doubles.
Lewis Edwards and
Jeffrey Rodgers held a 4-2 lead at the #1 spot but did not get the opportunity to finish their match once the doubles point was clinched.
Fairfield was not able to garner a win in Singles competition as
Tyler Shibles was topped (6-3, 6-1) in #1 Singles,
Lewis Edwards fell in #2 Singles (6-1, 6-0) and
Anthony Caputo fought to the end before falling (6-4, 6-3) in #4 Singles.
The Stags finished their season with an 8-12 overall record and a 4-3 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
