SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Fairfield women's tennis fought to the end in their final regular season match of the year, but it was not enough as they fell to Siena 2-5 and finished their season at 3-4 in the conference, narrowly missing a berth in the MAAC Championships.
The Stags failed to pick up a win in Doubles competition falling behind early, but they fought their way back in Singles competition.
Anna Komer tied the match at 1-1 with her victory in #3 Singles over Anessa Leyva (5-2, WR). The Stags took the lead after
Diana Prinos defeated Ivana Boberic in #1 Singles (6-4, 6-4). Unfortunately, Fairfield could not pick up a win in the remaining Singles matches leading to the Saints victory.
"The women played their hearts out today but got bested by a good Siena team" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "Diana was fantastic in singles today. I'm proud of their effort all year and look forward to next year. It's sad to see Sarah and Nicole leave, but the future is bright for this team!"
Fairfield finished their season with an overall record of 6-10 and 3-4 in MAAC conference play.
