The guard finished his career with 2,172 points with nearly half of his scoring coming from behind the three-point line. He posted a school-standard 104 three pointers in 2017-18 which raised his record-setting total to 315 over his four-year career. Nelson ended his senior campaign with 732 points, becoming the first Fairfield University basketball student-athlete to record more than 700 points in a season.

Nelson, who was selected the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, collected All-MAAC first team honors for the second straight season when the conference announced its annual postseason honors earlier in March. He also earned his second straight appearance on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District team.
