Stags Host Manhattan on Super Bowl Sunday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will host the Manhattan Jaspers on Super Bowl Sunday at 2pm on the George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall. All the action between the Jaspers and the Stags will be streamed live on Facebook Live at 2pm.

This will be the 13th time in program history that the Stags have played on Super Bowl Sunday, and the fourth-straight season. Fairfield has an 8-4 record in those contests, the same exact record the AFC holds in those contests. For New England Patriot fans, this will be the fifth time the Patriots will play in the Super Bowl on the same day as the Stags with New England holding a 2-2 record. New England defeated Atlanta last season and Seattle three years ago.

Sam Kramer was the lone Stag to reach double figures in their setback against Quinnipiac. The sophomore hit all three of her 3-point attempts in the first half, the sixth time this season she has connected on three of more 3-pointers in a half.

Samantha Cooper continues to ascend on the program's career rebounding total as she enters with 917. She is 13 shy of entering the top-5 in program history and ranks 15th among active NCAA Division I players.

The Jaspers have alternated wins and losses since December 16 when a win over LIU Brooklyn snapped a four game losing streak. Since then the Jaspers have been unable to record two-straight wins or losses. Manhattan is coming off a loss to Rider on Thursday, a game that saw guard Amani Tatum score 16 points on 4-for-7 shooting from deep.

Tatum is one of the Jaspers to watch as the senior leads the MAAC in both 3-point shooting percentage (.436) and steals (3.0), a number that ranks in the top-20 nationally. While Tatum controls the backcourt, senior Kayla Grimme has been the post presence for the Jaspers. Grimme ranks eighth in the league in scoring (14.1) and fourth in rebounding (7.7).

Fairfield will travel to Iona on Thursday afternoon for an 11am contest against Iona.
