FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will travel to Jersey City, N.J., for a meeting with the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Monday at 7pm.
Fresh off a gritty 44-43 win against Siena, which was Head Coach
Joe Frager's 200th as a Stag, the team will embark on their final road swing of the year. The game featured seven ties and 15 lead changes, the final one coming in the fourth quarter on a
Samantha Cooper free throw. Cooper led the Stags in bothe points (13) and tied for the team lead in rebounds with 10.
Casey Foley was also a presence on the board, grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds. Her ability on the board has become a theme over the last stretch of games as Foley is averaging 6.7 rebounds in her last five outings.
Making her first career start on her birthday,
Erika Schlosser netted eight points against the Saints, including a 2-for-3 showing from long range.
The Peacocks are riding a six-game losing streak after their last win, a 20-point victory against Monmouth. In that recent stretch, Saint Peter's highest scoring output was 59 points, a score they reached in overtime against Siena. While no Peacock averages double figures, Talah Hughes is the closest with 9.9 points per game. Right behind Bethea is Zoe Pero, who nets 9.5 points per contest.
Saint Peter's has used more of a balanced scoring output with 11 players scoring in their last outing against Iona. Pero was the last player to have a double-digit performance when she put up 23 against Rider. As a team, Saint Peter's averages 53.8 points per game, including a 50.1 scoring output in conference games.
The Stags will next travel to their final road game of the season at Monmouth on Friday at 7pm.
