FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Mayda Garcia recorded her seventh double-double of the fall and
Laura Seeger had a team-high 12 kills, but Fairfield University Volleyball was on the short end of a 3-1 decision to visiting Marist this afternoon on George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall.
Sydney Williams added seven kills for the Stags on .313 hitting and paced the defensive effort up front with six blocks.

After splitting the home weekend, the Stags stand at 11-14 overall and 10-6 in the MAAC. Marist improves to 14-12 on the campaign with an 11-5 conference mark. The visitors took the match by set scores of 27-25, 15-25, 25-21 and 25-21.

Fairfield halved the home-and-home series with the Red Foxes this fall, taking a 3-0 sweep in Poughkeepsie on Sept. 26.

Seeger's dozen kills mark the sixth double-digit performance of her rookie season and her third against MAAC competition. Garcia posted 11 finishers on the outside, while Williams and
Nora Quinn had seven and six kills, respectively, in the middle.
Julia Kallen added six finishers, and
Sonja Radulovic and
Alexis Rich each sent home two. Rich managed the attack with 42 assists as the Stags hit .146 on the match.

The Stags also scored eight points from the serving game, led by the first three career service aces for Williams. Garcia and
Taylor Rudeen each dropped in two winners, and Kallen landed one.

Rudeen also led the back row with 14 digs. In the process, she became the fifth Stag to reach 1,500 in her career. With 1,512 digs to date, Rudeen is 82 behind Jazmin Pa'akaula (1,594) for fourth place on Fairfield's all-time charts. Garcia chipped in with 11 digs to round out her double-double and Rich posted eight from the setter spot.

In addition to Williams' six blocks on the day, Garcia, Quinn and Rich each had a hand in two of Fairfield's eight rejections.

Marist was led by 15 kills and 13 digs from Nikki DeSerpa on the outside as the only Red Fox in double figures on the attack. Taylor van der Biezen helped control the action at setter with 38 assists, five kills, two service aces and six blocks. Marist libero Morgan Owens led all players with 17 digs.

Next weekend, the Stags will conclude the regular season on their home court against the MAAC's Western New York contingent – Niagara and Canisius – in two matchups that could prove pivotal in determining seeding for the upcoming MAAC Championship. First serve for both contests is slated for 1 p.m. Fairfield will recognize its four graduating seniors – Quinn, Rudeen, Williams and
Kaitlyn Fisher – prior to Sunday's meeting with the Golden Griffins.
