NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Fairfield University Volleyball was on the short side of a 3-0 decision on Sunday afternoon at Niagara. The Purple Eagles claimed the match by set scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-20.
Mayda Garcia led all players with 13 kills in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest.

Garcia's 13 kills for Fairfield (8-10, 7-2 MAAC) mark her 10th double-digit kill performance of the season on the outside. In the middle,
Luci Albertson and
Sydney Williams contributed seven and five kills, respectively. Rounding out the attack,
Emily Schillinger landed four kills with
Sonja Radulovic and
Laura Seeger each connecting on two finishers.
Julia Kallen and
Kaitlyn Fisher notched one kill apiece.
Alexis Rich managed the attack with 30 assists and dumped over one kill of her own.

Rich also aided the defensive effort with 11 digs to complete her team-leading eighth double-double of the fall.
Taylor Rudeen led the showing in the back row with 13 digs, and
Sophia Hosokawa posted 10. Rudeen and Hosokawa also both contributed to the scoring with one service ace apiece.

At the net, Garcia and Williams were each a part of two of Fairfield's three team blocks. Rich and
Nora Quinn also both had a hand in one rejection for the Stags.

Niagara (5-12, 5-3 MAAC) was led by 11 kills apiece from Jaycie Roberts and Caroline Leitch. Jessica Streuer ran the offense with 36 assists and notched 10 digs. Emillie Wright led all players with 15 digs. The Purple Eagles defense was fueled by 10 total blocks, including six of Mary Redl and five each from Leitch and Cameron Maris.

The Stags wrap up their five-match MAAC road trip next weekend with visits to Iona and Manhattan. Fairfield defeated both the Gaels and Jaspers in their respective trips to Connecticut in September.

Action returns to George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall on the following weekend – Oct. 20-21 – against Rider and Saint Peter's.
