FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will conclude the 2018 season when they travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to take on the Marist Red Foxes on Wednesday at 7pm.
 
The Stags are coming off a 1-1 week that saw the team defeat Saint Peter's and drop a road contest to Niagara. In the victory over the Peacocks, rookie Brooke Hernon recorded her first multi-goal contest, and was rewarded with a MAAC Rookie of the Week selection. Hernon completed the feat in just 56 seconds, which included a left-footed game-winning strike.
 
Alex Madden netted the tying goal in the win over Saint Peter's, bringing her season total to 12. Madden is currently the leader in the conference with those 12 scores, four ahead of Rider's Kourtney Cunningham and Niagara's Annie Ibey. Madden would be the first Stag to finish the season as the MAAC's sole leader in goals since Pam Cluff in 1999. Ahna Johnson also led the conference in goals, but tied for the lead by season's end.
 
With a win or draw, Marist will lock up a second place finish in the MAAC, and give them their best conference record since 2012. Alexa Svensson has been the biggest playmaker for the squad as she leads the MAAC with eight assists, just two ahead of Fairfield's Gabby Diodati.
