Stags Cap Road Stretch with 3-0 Sweep at Manhattan

Fairfield will play six of its final seven regular season matches at Alumni Hall

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Fairfield University Volleyball capped a season-long five-match road swing with a 3-0 sweep at Manhattan on Sunday afternoon. The Stags won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference clash by set scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-15. Fairfield will now play six of its final seven contests at home to close out the regular season.
 
With the win, Fairfield stops a three-match skid and improves to 9-11 overall and 8-3 in the MAAC. Manhattan, which came into Sunday riding a three-match winning streak, drops to 3-19 on the season with a 2-8 conference tally.
 
The Stags' attack was powered by nine kills apiece from Laura Seeger (.444) and Mayda Garcia. Luci Albertson was a force in the middle with eight kills at a .417 clip. Sonja Radulovic added seven finishers and Sydney Williams contributed four. The offense was managed by Alexis Rich, who guided Fairfield to a .222 hitting percentage with 30 assists as well as one kill of her own.
 
Fairfield's scoring effort was supplemented by nine service aces, including four served up by Radulovic. Rich and Taylor Rudeen each dropped in a pair of winners and Julia Kallen added one.
 
Defensively, Rudeen led the effort in the back row with 17 digs from the libero spot. Radulovic added 12 from the back row, Rich notched six, and the duo of Garcia and Kallen recorded five digs apiece. At the net, Albertson had a hand in five of the Stags' seven team blocks. Seeger was a part of four rejections and Williams played a role in a pair of send-backs.
 
Julia Menocal led Manhattan with six kills on .231 hitting. The Jaspers' attack was piloted by Shruti Mangipudi with 19 assists, and libero Alyssa Rehrer had a team-best 13 digs.
 
The Stags will play all seven of their remaining regular season matches in the state of Connecticut – six on George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall and the lone remaining road contest at Quinnipiac. The stretch begins with visits from Rider and Saint Peter's on Oct. 20-21. First serve in both outings is slated for 1 p.m.
