FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will make a quick stop home before hitting the road for three-straight games when they host Saint Peter's on Monday night at 7pm. All the action from the George Bisacca Court can be seen on Facebook Live.
The Stags will be looking to snap a mini two-game losing streak after their most recent loss at Marist. Although the Stags were not victorious, they found aspects they can build upon. The Stags out-scored Marist 44-29 in the second half to cut a 23-point Marist halftime lead to as little as seven late in the game. Fairfield had one of their best shooting halves, hitting seven of their nine shots from behind the arc.
Sam Kramer went 4-for-4 from 3-point land and
Casey Foley connected on three of her four attempts.
Before opening up a three-game road swing, the Stags will host Saint Peter's, a team that they have had success against at home. The Stags have won 11-straight against the Peacocks at Alumni Hall and 15-straight home games overall. The last time the Peacocks defeated the Stags in Alumni Hall was February 12, 1999.
The Peacocks will enter the game with a 3-12 record and on a 10-game losing streak. The last win for the Peacocks came on November 25 against Delaware. The Peacocks rank seventh in the MAAC with their 57.7 points per game and entered the weekend as the conference leader in 3-point percentage (.339). Saint Peter's is also a physical team, ranking second in the league in rebounds (38.3) and third in blocked shots (3.6).
Talah Hughes is the only player on the squad to average double figures, checking in with 10.3 per game. However, Sajanna Bethea nets 15.3 during her first three conference games this year. The duo is also Saint Peter's force in the post as they are the only players averaging more than five boards per game.
Fairfield will have a short trip to begin a three-game road swing when they travel to Quinnipiac on Saturday at 2pm.
