Stags Host UMass Lowell on Alzheimer’s Awareness Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will return to the George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall when they host UMass Lowell, who will be making their first trip to the Fairfield campus in program history. Fairfield will look to win their second-straight game in Alumni Hall when the two teams tip-off on Wednesday at 7pm.

The game will also serve as Fairfield's Alzheimer's Awareness night as part of the "We Back Pat" initiative. As part of the campaign, Fairfield will be collecting donations that will be benefiting the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter. On top of the donations the program will raise through raffles and other ways, Head Coach Joe Frager will be making a donation for every three-pointer that the Stags make in the game. Fans are asked to wear purple to support the cause.

The Stags are a very different team than they were in their first home game just one week ago. Mostly because, they are coming off a weekend, where their bench made major contributions. Specifically Erika Schlosser, who scored 20 points during the Christmas City Classic at Lehigh. Schlosser, who entered the weekend with just four career points, netted a career-high 13 in the game against the Mountain Hawks.

UMass Lowell is entering the game with a 2-4 record, including a 102-47 victory over Fisher College. The game marked the first time in UMass Lowell's Division I history where they eclipsed the century mark.

With her 25-point performance against Fisher, Kayla Gibbs took over as the team's leading scorer and is now averaging 14.3 points per game. Gibbs is one of three players in double figures, with freshman Paula Lopez in second at 12.7 per contest. Lopez is one of the top rookies in the America East conference after earning the first two Rookie of the Week awards of the season. Lopez was not one of the five players in double figures in the win against Fisher, but made her contribution with team-highs in assists (five) and steals (four).

The Stags will hit the road when they take part in the AJCU Jesuit Basketball Spotlight game when they travel to ACC foe Boston College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
