Jenna Pike, and team manager Kelly Bommer will be honored before the last regular season match of the 2017 season on Saturday. The Stags will celebrate Senior Day before their match against Marist with kick-off at 1pm at Lessing Field. The action will be streamed on Facebook Live.
Playing in the final match of the regular season, the Stags are still fighting for seeding in next week's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship Tournament in Orlando, Fla. The highest seed the Stags can claim will be the sixth-seed, which they can secure with a victory coupled with a Rider loss to Manhattan. A Fairfield loss or a Rider win or draw will give the Stags the seventh-seed.
The Stags will be playing a Marist team that comes into the match with an 8-7-2 overall record and a 5-3-1 league mark. The Red Foxes have won three-straight decisions, highlighted by a 2-1 upset victory against MAAC Regular Season Champions Monmouth. Marist is a deep team with 11 different players recording at least one goal, and five tallying at least three. Brianna Robinson and Jillian Colucci are tied for the team lead with four goals apiece. In net, Makala Foley has started 13 of the team's 17 matches and has a 1.12 goals against average with a .795 save percentage.
After the game, the Stags will head to Orlando, Fla., the site of the 2017 MAAC Championships. Fairfield will play in a first-round game on Saturday. If Fairfield claims the six-seed they will take on Saint Peter's on Saturday at 11 am on ESPN. If the Stags secure the seventh-seed they will face either Iona or Niagara on Saturday at 12:30 pm.
