FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A record-setting attendance of 90 guests joined the Friends of Cross Country this past Saturday, Sept. 24 for a Friends Reception on campus. Following the annual Fr. Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational on Saturday morning, student-athletes, alumni and parents gathered at the Levee to hear words from coach and honor the senior class.
"It is always great having the alumni on campus, but having them back for the Leeber Invitational is especially exciting” said Head Coach Brendan Rickert. “We truly have a great base of supporters and we work hard every day to represent them the way they deserved to be."
Now in his third season at the helm of both programs, Rickert has seen the student-athletes of two young Stags' teams establish numerous personal best and improve their standing among the competition in the MAAC.
During the reception, University President, the Rev. Jeffrey von Arx, S.J stopped by to join the celebration and offer words of encouragement to the group.
