Stags Begin CAA Postseason on Thursday Night against Hofstra

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After claiming a share of the Colonial Athletic Association regular season title, the Fairfield University men's lacrosse team has earned the No. 2 seed in the CAA postseason. The Stags will challenge third-seeded Hofstra on Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the semifinal round. The 2016 CAA Championship is being held at top-seeded Towson's Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Fairfield and Hofstra opened the CAA slate in opposition on April 2 in Hempstead, N.Y. Led by three goals and three assists from Colin Burke and 13 saves by Tyler Behring, the Stags came away with a 9-8 victory. Both meetings between the Stags and Pride as CAA foes have been decided by one goal, as Fairfield earned a 5-4 decision in the 2015 encounter between the clubs. Hofstra owns a 4-3 edge in the all-time series. The game will be broadcast live on CAA.tv.

The day's first semifinal will feature the host Towson Tigers challenging fourth-seeded Drexel at 4 p.m. The CAA Championship Game is slated for Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m. It will be televised live on the American Sports Network in addition to live coverage on CAA.tv.
