Stags Head to Georgetown for Tuesday Tilt

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's lacrosse team makes its longest road trip of the season, traveling to Washington, D.C. to challenge Georgetown on Tuesday, March 8. Faceoff from the nation's capital is slated for 3 p.m.

Fairfield's Last Time Out
A five-goal third quarter proved to be the difference as Fairfield was clipped by No. 18 Stony Brook, 9-6, this past Saturday afternoon on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. TJ Neubauer netted a hat trick for the Stags, and Tyler Behring made 12 saves.

In addition to the 11th hat trick of Neubauer's career, Fairfield benefitted offensively from two Colin Burke goals. Burke has now tallied at least two points (with at least one goal) in each of the first five games of his collegiate career.

Scouting Georgetown
Coming off of their first win of the spring, the Georgetown University Hoyas are 1-3 on the season. Georgetown's win was an upset at then-No. 8 Hofstra this past Saturday, while the Hoyas' three losses have come against a formidable trio of opponents: then-No. 1 Notre Dame, then-No. 13 Towson and Mount St. Mary's. Georgetown finished up 2015 with a 10-6 record, wrapping up the campaign in the Big East Championship Game with a loss to eventual national champion Denver.

Rookie Daniel Bucaro leads the Georgetown attack in both goals (nine) and total points (13). The team high in assists belongs to Peter Conley, who has dished out seven helpers to go along with five goals this spring. Conley was a First Team All-Big East honoree in 2014 but played just seven games last season due to injury.

Reigning First Team All-Big East goalkeeper Nick Marrocco ranks second in the conference and among the national leaders with a .571 save percentage and 13.00 saves per game. The sophomore, who has played all 240 minutes in the cage for the Hoyas, has also recorded a 9.75 goals against average. He made 15 stops with just six goals allowed in Georgetown's win over Hofstra.

Stags vs. Hoyas
This is the first-ever non-conference meeting between Fairfield and Georgetown. The teams met annually from 2006-09 when they were ECAC Lacrosse League foes. The Hoyas, who posted three winning records and made two NCAA appearances during that stretch, won all four meetings with the Stags.

Yale, which hosts St. John's on Tuesday night, is currently 3-0 on the season. The Bulldogs' signature win is an 8-5 victory over then-No. 4 Maryland to go along with 10-goal routs of UMass Lowell and Bryant.
