The Golden Griffs held the lead for the start of the first half, enjoying a seven-point edge at 16-9 and six-point advantage at 20-14 before the Stags posted 15 straight points to grab a 29-20 lead with 5:38 remaining.

That advantage remained for Fairfield until Canisius took the lead back after Jeremiah Williams' put back layup made it a 52-51 Griffs edge.
Canisius would eventually run that one-point lead into eight points and would not trail the rest of the way.
