Men's Lacrosse Defeats Bucknell for Sixth Straight Win

FAIRFIELD, Conn.  – The No. 13/15 Fairfield University men's lacrosse team won their sixth straight contest by topping Bucknell, 10-6, this afternoon on Alumni Field. Sophomore TJ Neubauer had four goals while rookie Dave Fleming added two goals for the Stags.  

Juniors Colin McLinden added a goal and three assists while Drew Federico had a goal and an assist.
 
Bucknell (5-6) was first on the board when Sean Doyle scored at 12:37 in the first quarter. Fairfield answered with consecutive goals by McLinden and Jake Knostman at 8:48 and 7:21, giving the Stags their first lead of the game. About a minute and a half later, another goal by Doyle, tied the game at 2-2.   

The Bison broke the stalemate at the 13:27 mark in the second quarter on a goal by Brock Ghelfi. A minute later, Fairfield evened the score, 3-3, off a goal by Neubauer. Bucknell made it 4-3 about one minute later on a goal by Peter Burke. The Stags answered with 1:15 left in the half when McLinden found Neubauer to bring the score to 4-4 into the break.

Fairfield (8-2) struck first at 12:21 in the third quarter as Fleming tallied his 14th goal of the year. Bucknell answered six and a half minutes later but Tristan Sperry found Federico with just 35 seconds left in the period, to give the Stags a 6-5 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

Senior Eric Warden expanded the lead for Fairfield at 12:18 in the final period while Neubauer followed with back-to-back goals at the 10:58 and 8:33 marks. After a second goal by Fleming at 4:58, the score became 10-5, in favor of Fairfield. The Bison battled back, scoring their final goal with just 20 seconds left in regulation, but were unable to catch the Stags. Fairfield defeated Bucknell in a final 10-6 decision.

Senior Jack Murphy made 11 saves for the Stags.
 
Fairfield is back in action on April 5 when the Stags hit the road to face Michigan at 4:30pm.
