Men's Basketball Fairfield University

Fairfield University Partners With ESPN3, SNY For 2014-15

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Athletics and the Media Center will produce nine games on ESPN3 during the 2014-15 basketball season, beginning with the men's basketball contest against Manhattan College on Friday, December 5. In addition to the Media Center productions, the men's and women's basketball teams will each have three games on ESPN3 which will be part of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) broadcast package. Five of the men's basketball broadcasts will also be available on SportsNet New York (SNY).

“It's always been my goal to provide the opportunity for our fans and alumni that are not in the Fairfield community to see Fairfield basketball on a regular basis,” Director of Athletics Gene Doris said. “Our partnership with the Media Center has provided that opportunity on a local and regional basis for many years. With our partnership with ESPN3 and SNY, Fairfield University can now provide our fans and alumni the chance to see our athletic teams nationally and internationally.”

All nine Fairfield University productions will be under the guidance of Casey Timmeny, Director of the Media Center. Under his direction, students, alumni, and Media Center staff will bring the live productions to millions of homes through ESPN3 and SNY. The Fairfield University Media Center has produced live basketball events for eight years, sending broadcasts to local, regional, and national outlets.

“The opportunity to provide our students with this type of production experience is invaluable,” Timmeny said. “Many of our students have gone on to accept positions at national networks based on the opportunities they received during these productions. We are excited to continue to offer these experiences to our students and look forward to working with ESPN.”

Fairfield University's live broadcasts will include six cameras that will feature a full graphics package, replay, and broadcast teams. Bob Heussler and Joe DeSantis will call all the action for the men's basketball games. John Cummings will provide play-by-play for the women's games with a color commentator.
