The Fairfield University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 non-conference contest to Stony Brook University Friday afternoon in Stony Brook, N.Y. The Stags fall to 0-3 on the year, while the Seawolves improve to 2-0-1.

After a scoreless first-half, Fairfield began with possession and earned two corner kicks and a shot in the first 112 seconds of the second half, but could not convert. Stony Brook, ranked 10th in the Northeast Region, broke through in the 54th minute on a Shannon Grogan goal. Julianne Palm fed a long ball past the Fairfield defenders and Grogan put the ball just inside the near post.

Stella Norman tallied the Seawolves' second goal, in the 77th minute, converting a free kick from the right wing, just outside the box.

Kathleen Early made three saves in net for the Stags, allowing both goals, in her 90 minutes of action. Ashley Castanio made three saves for Stony Brook to earn the clean sheet.

The Stags return to action on Thursday, September 5 when they travel to the University of Hartford for the final game of a four-game, season-opening road swing. Fairfield and the Hawks take to the pitch at 7pm.
