LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Fairfield University senior Rachel Romansky was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Volleyball Setter of the Year for the third consecutive season this evening at the MAAC Championship Awards Show. Joining Romansky on the All-MAAC First Team was junior Marilyn Peizer while senior Hayley Moyer was named to the All-MAAC Second Team.
Romansky is Fairfield's first three-time MAAC Setter of the Year and is the first setter in league history to receive three consecutive honors since the award's inception in 2004. Romansky, who was tabbed the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year in August, earns All-MAAC First Team honors for the second-straight year. She garnered All-MAAC Second Team honors in 2011 and has been named to the MAAC Championship All-Tournament Team every season. This season, Romansky is averaging 9.81 assists per set along with 258 digs, 87 kills, and 27 service aces. Romansky has had an impressive career for Fairfield, becoming only the second Stag in program history to record more than 4,000 assists and 1,000 digs in a career. With 4,441 assists, she ranks 11th among the NCAA Division I career active leaders and is second all-time at Fairfield. With 1,122 digs, she is ninth all-time at Fairfield.
Peizer earns her first All-MAAC honor after averaging 3.06 kills, 1.28 digs, and 45 total blocks and recording 10+ kills in 19 out of 29 matches played this season. Entering the MAAC Championship, she has recorded double-digit kills in 13 of her last 15 matches. In MAAC matches this season, Peizer averaged 3.34 kills and 1.70 digs with 35 total blocks.
Moyer garners her first All-MAAC designation as well after a solid season. The senior leads the MAAC with a .358 hitting percentage. She's also posted 64 total blocks, 234 kills, and 16 aces this season, playing in 107 of 109 possible sets. She's also left her mark in the Fairfield history book as she's seventh all-time in career hitting percentage (.278), eighth all-time in block assists (214), and tenth in total blocks (237). Moyer also earned her third consecutive selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team. In mid-November, she earned CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District honors and is being considered for Academic All-America accolades.
Joining Moyer on the MAAC All-Academic Team are Peizer, Carsen Mata, Camille Coffey, Lindsay Weaver, and Maddie FitzPatrick. It is the second consecutive selection for Peizer, Coffey, and Weaver and the first for Mata and FitzPatrick.
